Tattoo Artist Branding Session

There’s only one person I trust to tattoo my body, and that’s Maddie. Maddie is a tattoo artist who owns JoJo Ink in Grand Rapids, MI.

I’ve been seeing Maddie since 2023 when I moved to Grand Rapids from Kalamazoo. She’s created some art that’s really important to me including my dad’s airplane he built when I was young, my “trust your gut” reminder, the lemon that reminds me ‘when life gives you lemons…’ and more.

Her space has always inspired me; the aesthetically pleasing work bench, the black and white walls, and her energy that she radiates when tattooing. One day, Maddie’s space popped into my head and I thought: “How cool would it be to capture a tattoo session for her?”

Maddie talked about her love for the Y2K vibe. I wanted to incorporate that feel in the session by using direct flash, which to me, combined with her low rise jeans, sold the vision swimmingly. I loved the way she continued to do her thing naturally, even with me hovering over her with a camera the entire time. She’s truly incredible at what she does.

I’d love to join you in your creative space, documenting your process. Reach out, let’s talk about your vision!
