Oval Beach Engagement Session

Leila and Jake are getting married! I had the pleasure of working with Leila during my time in property management, just before I went full-time with my photography business. She had been saying for months that she thought Jake was going to propose “any day now” and that as soon as he did she wanted me to take their engagement photos.

Leila chose Oval Beach in Saugatuck, MI for their session. None of us had ever been there but I have no doubt we will all be back. The water was a beautiful teal color, almost like the ocean. Behind the beach there are beautiful sand dunes surrounded by peaking fall colors. Though it was the end of October, we were blessed with 78 degree weather for our session. It was truly perfect all around.

These two are huge sports fans. Jake proposed to Leila at a Cincinnati Reds vs. San Francisco Giants [baseball] game; Jake rooting for the Reds and Leila for the Giants. Not only are they house divided in baseball, but also football. Leila is a die-hard 49ers fan and Jake the Lions. They wanted to incorporate their love for football in their engagement session by doing a couple of house divided shots. I love that they chose to do something so authentic to their relationship during their session.

It’s always such a dream when couples aren’t afraid to get down and dirty during their session. You want to jump in the water with your clothes on? Sign me up, I’m getting in the water with you. There’s nothing better than leaving a session with wet clothes, sandy toes, and my face sore from smiling so hard.
