In-Home Newborn Session
I had an inquiry for newborn session for a family that planned to welcome their son in mid-November. In the inquiry, it was specified that they didn’t want the stereotypical newborn session. “Looking for laid back/comfortable family photos…not like a newborn session where they are staged/wrapped up if that makes sense.”
I was so excited by this inquiry because it’s right up my alley. I’m not a newborn photographer. I have nothing against people who choose this type of session, these can be truly beautiful. BUT, it’s just not my style. It was exciting to have the opportunity to document this stage in a family’s life from a relaxed perspective, allowing the family to interact with each other freely and naturally with limited posing and interference.
They had just moved into their new home, which I think major props should be given to them for the fact that they did this throughout the 8th month of pregnancy through the birth of their son. That’s a huge feat. Their home was beautiful and was already coming together so beautifully. One of my favorite parts of this session was that their dog was a part of the whole thing, excited to see what we were up to and be a part of it all. Enjoy a peek into their gallery— it was so hard to pick my favorites.

I’m a lifestyle and wedding photographer based out of West Michigan, available for travel. I take a documentary approach focusing on candid and unposed photos. Some prompting is necessary during each session, but the goal is always to allow clients to interact freely and naturally with each other to produce a gallery that feels authentic to them.
I’d love to chat with you, let’s create gorgeous photos together!
