Newborn Family Session in the Park

Levi is my brother in law. He and his girlfriend, Somer, welcomed their daughter, Diana, in November. The three of them are so sweet- it’s beautiful to see them come together as a family.

They wanted a short session at Bronson Park, Downtown Kalamazoo. Initially we planned on a session prior to Christmas, but it had to be rescheduled to just after. They still wanted to get a little Christmas magic in their photos, so despite there being no snow we were grateful that the Christmas decorations were still up.

I loved the opportunity to document their relationship in a candid way, just them interacting and loving on their new baby. I have said this before and I will say it again; I am NOT your typical newborn photographer. It’s just not my thing. So it’s lovely when I match with a family who also wants a family session to document their new life rather than a super posed and produced newborn session. Not that that’s not beautiful too, but it’s just not my style.

I can’t wait to watch my newest niece grow up, she’s already so loved. <3
